A comprehensive contribution to the understanding of color quality of solid-state light sources (LED-OLED and laser) and conventional lamps for their reasonable application – that´s the achievement of the new book by Prof. Dr. Tran Quoc Khanh, Dr. Peter Bodrogi and Dr. Trinh Quang Vinh “Color Quality of Semiconductor and Conventional Light Sources”. The team of Technische Universität (TU) Darmstadt accomplishes manifold: It provides academic researchers with an in-depth review of the current state and at the same time helps lighting professionals understand, evaluate and optimize illumination in their daily work. The authors span the entire world of lighting, starting with the human eye physiology and the color appearance phenomena, going on to the spectral reflectance properties of different groups and visual color quality aspects, underpinned by experiments at the Technische Universität Darmstadt and finishing with the optimization of LED light engines for high color quality as well as human centric lighting and color quality.
They surely have to know their field: Prof. Dr. Tran Quoc Khanh is Head of the Laboratory of Lighting Technology at TU Darmstadt in Germany. Dr. Peter Bodrogi and Trinh Quang Vinh are senior research fellows at the same institute.
